Once again, South Africans will be heading to the polls to choose new leaders. Even though the election hasn’t happened yet, the political parties are making every effort to bolster their financial positions.
This entails a contribution drive in addition to other ways to raise money. For Rise Mzansi, one of the rival political parties this election season, things appear to be going smoothly in this regard.
The Oppenheimer family, which reportedly contributed over R15 million, is among the many donors who have made the party roar right now.
Since it is legally required for political parties to register donations exceeding R100,000, the party itself revealed the fund. As the election battle heats up, Rise Mzansi is one of the political parties that has collected money thus far.
Though there has been a mixed response to the gift to Rise Mzansi, some people have praised the contributors, believing the party to be a welcome change from the African National Congress.
Nonetheless, some are unimpressed, concluding that there is no distinction between the parties. Well, obviously, to each his own opinion.
