Mac G Charges Hip-Hop Artists To Explore Amapiano Since Their Idol Has Done The Same

Amapiano is currently popular in South Africa, although it appears that certain musicians from the hip-hop genre are hesitant to try it. South African podcaster MacG has long recognized this, prompting him to make remarks about it.

In a recent episode of his Podcast and Chill, MacG wondered why rappers aren’t going into amapiano music, despite the fact that their idol, American rapper T.I., has. He claims that since their idol has experimented with the genre, nothing prevents them from doing the same.

Hip-hop musicians venturing into piano music has long been a source of contention. While some rappers have dived into the genre and achieved success, others would never touch it.

In fact, some rappers, including A-Reece, have criticized their peers who have dabbled in amapiano. However, Cassper Nyovest, Reason, and even Major League DJz have no problems about delving into the piano genre. Indeed, Major League DJz appears to be more focused on amapiano currently, with a desire to take the genre to its logical conclusion.

It remains to be seen whether rappers will accept MacG’s challenge.
